Tunnels: Canal de Saint Martin

Lafayette tunnel (1,932 metres)

The Canal Saint-Martin is located in the Xth and XIth district of Paris. It connects the Bassin de La Villette (and beyond the Canal de l'Ourcq and the Canal Saint-Denis) to the Arsenal Basin (marina of Paris) which drops down a lock onto the Seine.

The Richard Lenoir tunnel, 1,932m long, itself formed by three vaults built successively at different times: the Bastille vault, the oldest, 180m long, followed by the Richard Lenoir vault under the boulevard of the same name in Paris, 1,510m long, and finally the vault of the Temple, built at the beginning of the 20th century, 242m long.
